Popular Bookstore to Reopen in Komtar 27 May 2010

THE Popular bookstore outlet will return to Komtar this month, occupying its previous premises at the mall. This being the 9th outlet and the most popular bookstore in Penang.

Popular Malaysia Project and Business Development operations manager Siew Sheue Liang said at least RM4mil had been set aside to renovate the premises which would be modern in design with Penang heritage elements.

“The previous Komtar outlet was significant to the company as it was our first bookshop outside Kuala Lumpur in 1991. We moved out in 2004 after more than 13 years.

“We decided to make a comeback and contribute to the growth of the inner city. This ‘new’ outlet will be our 64th bookstore in Malaysia,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Popular Malaysia first started in Kuala Lumpur in 1984 and ventured into an expansion seven years later.
